Our Weekly Newsletter Features new Funding Opportunities as well as deadline information date with Funding news.

When you start thinking about funding and income for your group or organisation you need to ask three main questions.

What do we need funds for?

Who is available to get involved in fundraising?

• How much time have we got to spend on it?

You also need to think about all the different ways groups and organisations can get funding. This includes:

• grants

• fundraising from individuals and corporations

• earned income – being paid for the services you offer

• contracts – being paid on a larger and formal scale

• investments.

Locally we have 2 major Charitable Trusts that offer grants – Greenham Trust and Berkshire Community Foundation.

Greenham Trust

The Trust’s aim is to support local charities and organisations for the benefit of the people in West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

They’ve already supported over 5000 local good causes and distributed over £71 Million since their inception in 1997.

The Good Exchange

The Good Exchange is Greenham Trust’s online fundraising platform which makes it easy for charitable organisations to:

• Receive grants from a range of local funders, including Greenham Trust
• Receive donations from the general public and corporate supporters
• Receive Gift Aid on donations
• Drive donations through crowdfunding
• Support fundraising through Match Funding opportunities
• Fee-free since April 1 2022

One Application for Multiple Sources of Funding

The Good Exchange works with multiple funders in the Trust’s local area to match charities/charitable projects raising funds, with those who have money to give. By listing your project on The Good Exchange, you are maximising your chances of securing multiple donations and grants from different sources.

Match Funding

The Good Exchange platform allows funders to offer Match Funding – a defined amount of money available in part or whole when it has been matched through donations or fundraising activities. Match Funding incentivises donors and fundraisers to raise money and donate to a project more quickly.

Berkshire Community Foundation

A charity that works across Berkshire to raise, then distribute, money directly to vital local causes.

They ensure that any form of philanthropy, whether from an individual or an organisation, brings greatest benefit to those most in need in our local communities.

Berkshire Community Foundation offers a variety of funding streams to support charities, volunteer groups and other non-profit organisations working to improve people’s lives in Berkshire

Gift Aid

Your charity can use Gift Aid to increase the value of donations from UK taxpayers. When people donate using Gift Aid, you can reclaim tax from HM Revenue and Customs. For every £1 donated, you can claim an extra 25 pence. Additionally, under the Gift Aid small donations scheme, some charities are eligible to claim a top-up payment on their small cash donations. HM Revenue and Customs advises on Gift Aid, the Gift Aid, small donations scheme and other tax matters.
