On Saturday 29th June Volunteer Centre West Berkshire held its 50th Anniversary at Ace Space in the form of a variety concert.
Thanks to Adam Kotz and his team who ensured the technicalities were managed superbly. Mark on sound, Pete and Sue sorting seating and John and co looking after the bar. Adam ensuring that every act was suitably mic’d and amplified. We were honoured by the presence of Town Mayor of Newbury Cllr Andy Moore OBE, Town Mayor of Thatcham Cllr Suzanne Adamantos and Vice Chairman of West Berkshire Council Cllr Tony Vickers.
The Chair of Trustees of Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, Mrs Brien Beharrell, and family were also there to represent the charity. The audience comprised of volunteers and staff and families.
The evening got off to a start with a welcome from Garry Poulson the former director (now retired) of Volunteer Centre West Berkshire. The Mayor of Newbury made an opening speech on the value of the charity and voluntary service in our community over 50 years. A volunteer with the charity of 50 years, Mrs Mary Baker, was presented with a bouquet and a framed certificate by the Mayor, and Rachel Peters, the Chief Executive of Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, thanked Mary for her remarkable service. Rachel also gave an overview of the charity’s current activities.
Pictured below are our various artists who gave of their time in a voluntary capacity, sharing their very considerable entertainment talents and acknowledging the work of the charity. So huge thanks go to them. The evening ended with Chair of Trustees Brien Beharrell thanking all those who had contributed to the success of the evening.
All photographs were taken by a volunteer Bob Day who gave of his time to photograph the event so beautifully.
